How do i start to work my beginner horse up to doing extensions and collections within each gait comortably?

October 62009

I have a beginner horse and i want to be able to do extensions and collections within each gait. How do i do this? what should i be doing to work my horse up to this? i know it will take time and patience, and im commited to that. but i need help training my horse on my own. i cant afford a trainer, so i am my own horses trainer.

well, with a beginning horse, you should be sure that he’s balanced and soft in every gait before you start collection and extensions, otherwise he’ll be confused as to what you’re asking him. once he’s happy in each gait and listens to what you’re asking, you can start like this:

stride alterations (collections and extensions) should be asked for FROM THE SEAT. a common misconception with riding is that these alteration are from the hands and legs. these should only be used when training a horse to collect or extend, because that’s what they’re used to.
To ask a horse to extend at first, you should push a little in the seat from back to front, as if you were scooting forward in a rolling chair. If he does not respond, close your leg around him gently, and then almost immediately, touch him lightly in the mouth to let him know that you don’t want to break your gait. if he still doesn’t respond, squeeze a little more firmly, and again, take back. use a kiss or cluck to ask him to continue moving forward. these can be easily taught to your horse on the lounge line. After enough work, the horse should be able to recognize what your asking him to do, and he will start to respond with only the seat aide.
Collecting is the exact opposite, obviously. stiffen your seat and press your weight in the saddle. stop going with his motion to let him know that you don’t want that rhythm anymore. if he does not respond, take back lightly in the reins. to make sure he doesn’t break. close your leg. again, take back until he slows, but always gently. use a voice command like "easy" or "slow" to enforce this: and again, lounge work is great. after work, he will respond simply by asking with the seat.
and never ever ever forget to reward him!!
have fun, and happy riding!

How much will score improve when collections is deleted?

October 42009

On my credit report is a collections account (medical) that should not be there and Im currently disputing it and getting it deleted. I know it depends on several things but does anyone have any idea how much my score may improve when it is gone?
It isnt dropping off. It is being deleted because it was an error.

Depends how old it is - and it will vary depending on which CRA you are pulling but if it is realtively recent expect about 20 pts…..

What numerical affect will a collections report have on a credit score?

October 42009

If someone has a credit score of 750 and gets sent to collections what will their credit score look like? I want a numerical answer and not one of those "it stays on there 7 years" responses. I know that once you pay it off you can dispute it, how do you go about doing that?

There isn’t a one size fits all answer. If you had one credit card that you used over the past 2 years and no other loans and that credit card went to collections, your credit score will likely drop well over 100 points.

However, if you had and used several credit cards along with several other loans over 7 years, the affect may possibly be less than 50 points.

What are some famous historical photograph collections?

October 22009

I only know of this one photographer, Mikhail Prokudin-Gorskii, who took some *amazing* photographs in 1900s-1910s of the Russian Empire and they are in the most stunning color quality!

Do you know of any historical photograph collections yourself?

There’s the Albert Kahn collection in Paris. A collection of Autochromes taken in the early 1900’s onwards from some 40 countries.

What should you do if you are sent to collections in error?

September 292009

I was sent to collections by a company that I dont owe money to. Their website stated to cancel you needed to send an email & copy of invoice to their email at least 15 days prior to the billing date. I sent 6 emails requesting cancellation including my phone # in each mails. I never received any more product, I stopped being billed, but I also never received a confirmation of my cancellation. Now they are sending me to collections for their product. I paid for two products, and I only received two products. I really dont feel that it is fair to me, especially because I am so broke and making crappy wages, to have to pay a LOT of money for a product I didn’t purchase, or agree by any means to purchase, a year ago. What leg do I have to stand on? What can I do to protect myself in this situation?

The first thing you’ll want to do is take a step back from everything, take a deep breath, and relax. Often times, if the error is on the part of the complaining company, the collection’s agency can take care of it (assuming that it’s nothing major). They are provided by all the info from the complaining party (or at least should be). Just go over the information you have with them in a calm manner. Most collections agents can come across as bitter/angry/etc…, but as long as you’re civil with them, they should return the favor.

This second part is going off of the assumption that you’re in the US (sorry if it sounds funny, but there are a lot of international users on here). First, you can go to the following site (http://lookup.bbb.org/ ) and find the Better Business Bureau site for the state this company’s in. There, you can see if there’s any history of this kind of behavior by this company (assuming that they are a member of the BBB). Secondly, if things escalate to a desperate point, you can contact the State’s Attorney General of the state this company’s in. For this, you’d want to make sure that all of your documentation is in order. That info can be looked up here (http://www.naag.org/ ).

Collections against me and payment arrangement made What happens if i send in less than agreed upon?

September 252009

I was told by a friend if I send anything they cannot garnish my wages, I know that was true before collections does it still apply after? This is a hospital bill.

You friend is right. At least in my state. If you are making some attempt to pay your bill, the collection agency will not make much headway in trying to garnish your wages. I’ve had hospital bills outstanding for 10yrs. They were never garnished. I eventually gathered my massive amount of medical bills to file bankruptcy. It isn’t the avenue for everyone, but I’m breathing much easier now that I see a way out.

How long does a small collections amount stay on your credit report?

September 202009

I checked my wife’s credit report and she has a small collections amount of $23. She was unaware of it and thinks it may have been from her divorce. She thinks her ex-husband never took care of it or failed to provide the bill to her. I’m paying it off so that it’s taken care of but wonder how long it will be on her credit report. With it being paid off now, is it going to hurt her credit for the next 7 years?

Before you just cut them a check, try to negotiate a pay for deletion arrangement with them. They’ll probably take it. They’ll get paid and your wife will get her credit cleaned.
